Business Travel Safety Tips

Looking for business travel safety tips? Those on business travel abroad are often targeted by criminals and unfortunately become victims of crimes. They are targeted for various reasons.

Many business men wear expensive suits and flashy jewelry. These luxuries may impress colleagues at the office but also attract the attention of foreign criminals. Refrain from wearing these things while working abroad.

Laptops and computer bags also cause criminals to target business travelers in a foreign country. Furthermore, the prices of computers are often double what they are in your home country; therefore, they are hot ticket items for criminals. For example, in the United States a laptop can be purchased for as little as $500 USD. This same laptop may cost $1000 USD in Latin American and African countries. This can mean two months pay for a criminal who steals a laptop and sells it on the black market abroad. Not only can your laptop be stolen but the information on that can be of value to criminals.

With the growing number of women entering the business world, travel advice for women is important. Business women traveling alone often are at a higher risk to become a crime victim while abroad. Unfortunately, many suffer sexual assault, harassment, and get there purses snatched.

Both men and women on business abroad should be aware of hotel security. Since most frequently stay in hotels while on business, they are often targeted by criminals for burglary. Criminals know that business travelers are rarely in the room and often are in a hurry to meetings and leave valuables unsecured (i.e., do not use in-room safes) in the room while away.

So, if you are a business man or woman who travels frequently abroad then I encourage you to use caution and practice sound personal securitywhile abroad.

These are some business travel safety tips that I suggest for business men and women traveling abroad for work.
