Dangerous Places Travelers Should Avoid

Dangerous places are the favorite travel spots of many tourists seeking adventure travel. However, traveling to such places is both foolish and dangerous. Furthermore, it could cost you your life or serious injury.
How do I know? Something
about me,
I have traveled to some pretty bad places. Some of these include Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan. However, none of these were by choice; all were work related. I would never travel to these places voluntarily or on my own dime.
But, believe it or not, people do travel to places as dangerous as Iraq. Better them than me, that’s all I can say.
In order to have fun traveling one does not need to take a lot of risk or push trips to the extreme. Sure it may make a good story to tell to friends and family later down the road but that’s considering that you are no killed or injured during your dangerous travel.
Let’s look at some examples of how travelers sometime exhibit dangerous behavior that could get them into trouble.
Backpackers
love to find deserted locations like small towns and less traveled paths to hike on and be alone. Unfortunately, many of places are locations were criminals can easily victimize them, there is less of a police presence, or the medical facilities are no existent or lacking.
Students
love to visit party hot spots like Mexico during
Spring Break
where there are sunny beaches, wild parties, and plenty of alcohol. However, they unexpectedly encounter problems.
Female travelers
run the risk of sexual assault and even male travelers are vulnerable to
scopolamine incidents.
Seniors traveling
to places that could pose dangers to health problems is not safe. I live in
Quito, Ecuador
which is the second highest capital in the world. Let me tell you that breathing is hard for me and I am in extremely good physical condition. I suggest that before visiting foreign countries, seniors check with a health professional first.
Now let’s look at a couple of specific countries which are definitely on the list of dangerous places to travel to.
The first are war zones. These include places like:
- Iraq
- Sudan
- Afghanistan
Ladies and gentlemen bullets and bombs are flying around in these places. People are being killed and severely injured. There are no tourist sites to see in these places. Also, there is no presence of law and order. Hospitals and medical facilities are sometimes no existent and if they do exist then you can be sure that they are filled with victims from the war zones.
The next are countries with high incidents of terrorism. Examples of these include:
- Afghanistan
- Pakistan
- Egypt
- Israel
Travelers who choose to go to these locations should understand that terrorists rarely distinguish between government and civilian targets. Often suicide bombers attempting to attack government facilities injure or kill nearby civilians. Often government buildings have so much security that terrorists instead go for less secure and more vulnerable targets. These locations are referred to as
soft targets
among security officials.
The last group of dangerous countries includes those with high crime rates. These include:
- Ecuador
- Venezuela
- Brazil
- Colombia
Personally I believe that travelers should be more concerned with countries where there is high crime versus high incidents of terrorism. The reason is that crime is more likely to affect them than the latter. Every day there numerous foreigners are robbed or sexually assaulted while on visiting or reside abroad.
In conclusion, I suggest to travelers instead of visiting dangerous places, visit other places like these
safest destinations.
