Scopolamine Incidents In Ecuador
There was a recent article in El Comercio, a local newspaper in Quito, Ecuador, which was about a scopolamine epidemic in the country.
The article points out that during 2007 there were 52 reported cases of scopolamine drugging incidents. However, between August and September 2008 there were 24 incidents. That’s about 10 cases a month.

So, as I have pointed out anyone travelling to Ecuador, or anywhere around the world for that matter, should be careful to watch their drinks in bars and restaurants. Most of the incidents occur after someone discreetly adds drugs to your drink. The next thing you remember is being alone in a strange place and robbed of all your belongings.
