Travel Packing Tips
Here are some travel packing tips which will make your travels abroad much easier.
Pack the appropriate
travel clothing
for your trip. Take into account issues like cultural difference. For example,
female travelers
to the Middle East should refrain from clothes which may be too revealing. Also, pack clothing according to weather conditions.
Be sure to bring along medications or medical supplies that you use or need on a regular basis. This is especially important for
seniors traveling
the world. Don’t rely on purchasing drug overseas if you run out. Why? Counterfeit drugs are prevalent in many foreign countries and these fake drugs could harm or kill you. Furthermore, if you attempt to reenter your home country with foreign drugs, you could be detained by
airport security
or customs officials and questioned.
Keep important items like travel documents,
prepaid credit cards,
cell phones, and laptops which your carryon luggage versus checked baggage. These are items that you can’t afford to lose or have stolen. On this note leave other things like you driver’s license, social security card, and birth certificate at home. There’s no reason that you will need these items in foreign countries. Plus, if you did take them and lose them or have them stolen, you could become a victim of identity theft.
Bring along a
contact sheet
listing important telephone numbers you may need in the event of an emergency. Be sure that you know telephone numbers for your embassy, police, fire, and emergency services.
Got room for a small first aid kit? Why not go ahead and bring it along, just in case.
Use
luggage locks
to secure your baggage. This keeps corrupt airport employees from stealing your belongings.
